FRIENDS OF
STUDHAM CHURCH
About the Friends
Welcome
St Mary's Church is Studham's oldest building, and like many ancient churches, it needs regular repairs and restoration work. The Friends of Studham Church was founded in the 1970's to help fund specific restoration projects. In 1995 we gained charitable status and next year will be our 30th anniversary as a Charity. We contribute to the costs of preserving the fabric of the church and its surrounds, repairs, replacing significant items, and maintaining fixtures of special importance.
The Friends’ funds are not used for general housekeeping costs, such as heating, lighting, services, etc. These are borne by the Parochial Church Council (PCC). As a point of interest you may be surprised to hear that no funds are received from the Church of England and reliance is placed upon the generosity of the Parishioners and the Village community to pay through the PCC, to the Diocese a charge for "Ministry Cost."
The majority of the Friends do not actually participate in the religious aspects of the church; but we do wish to support its heritage and ensure it is in a good state to hand over to the next generation.
We encourage everyone to enjoy the church and its surrounds and all are welcome at our events. Some of which are organised for the benefit of the village community, so you could describe us also as Friends of Studham Village.
Friends help to ensure that:
-
the fabric of the church is preserved for future generations.

-
the church is available to everyone for worship and family occasions such as baptisms, weddings and funerals

-
the church continues to be an important part of the community of Studham and available for the many visitors who come to this part of the Chilterns.
The Friends are friendly and knowledgeable and welcoming. If you would like to join us and help others enjoy this wonderful place, please click the button below.
Become a Friend
We extend a warm invitation to everyone to support St Mary's Church by becoming a Friend of Studham Church. Whether you are a local resident, former resident, visitor, or anyone with a special affinity to our cherished historic building, we welcome your help in preserving it for future generations to enjoy.
As a Friend of Studham Church, your support will help raise funds for the fabric of the building and for the preservation of the church's heritage and physical upkeep. You will be helping to look after Studham's landmark building, which holds a significant role in the village's identity. Local families will continue to have access to a beautiful church for life's important ceremonies such as weddings, christenings, and funerals as well as a serene sanctuary for contemplation whenever needed.
